casting calls
Casting for our Spring 2026 house team season is now open!
hoopla house teams
We start at least one new Hoopla house team each season, with a set run of rehearsals and performances, coached by an experienced Director from the Hoopla teaching team.
These teams are designed to give people from our courses the chance to rapidly build up performing experience.
There is a different show and cast each season to help bring exciting new improv to the London stage and to increase the number of performing opportunities for people at Hoopla.
We are now casting for the Spring 2026 season at Hoopla!
about the show
This new house team will be perfect for people who have completed Levels 1-4 at Hoopla who are now looking to build up stage time with a regularly performing group.
Over the season we’ll be regularly rehearsing together and performing a mix of short-form games, scenes and long-form formats over the run.
The show will be mainly directed by Steve Roe (Hoopla’s Director), with additional coaching from a selection of Hoopla’s other teachers.
Each house team has around 16 people in the team, which then split into around 3 different groups for each show.
who we are looking for
- Completed Levels 1-4 with Hoopla (remember we do offer scholarships if needed).
- Passionate about improv.
- Loves performing short-form games, scenes and long-form formats.
- Able to commit to the regular rehearsals and shows and be on time.
We are also accepting applications for a limited number of places from people who’ve already been on a Hoopla house team and would like to perform again in a newer group.

The shows are free to the audience so performing is unpaid.

FAQs
What experience do I need to apply?
Minimum of Level 1-3 training at Hoopla, ideally also Level 4.
Can I apply if I’ve already been in a full Hoopla house team season?
Yes. We will have limited spaces for people who have previously performed in a Hoopla house team season.
Can I apply if I did my improv training somewhere else?
No, not this time. We have a lot of people who have recently finished training with Hoopla and we want to give them performing opportunities and with finite stage space we need to prioritise them.
What is the commitment level like?
You will need to be at a minimum of 75% of workshops and shows. You will also need to be on time for rehearsals and shows. If you can’t make this commitment please wait for another season to apply, as you may be asked to leave the group if you are consistently late or missing rehearsals.
Should I still apply if I can’t make at least 75% of the rehearsal dates?
No. Please wait until the next season.
Should I still apply if I can’t make either audition date?
Yes. Let us know if you’re interested but can’t make the audition dates as there is a small chance we put on an additional audition if there are a lot of applications.
Will you be doing this show again?
Yes, there will probably be another season later in 2026.
When will you be doing casting for other shows?
We’re going to be regularly casting for a mix of short-run and long-run shows over each year, with different options for people with different experience. We don’t have exact dates yet but will update this page and our social media when we do.
how we choose people from auditions
The director of the show runs the auditions. We also have at least two other people in the room to take notes, input into the selection process and to ensure all decisions are fair and unbiased.
Auditions involve a whole group warm up, some pair game warm ups, and then lots of 2-3 people scenes from suggestion.
How well the cast know the director doesn’t come into selection as there are also independent people there who are responsible for making sure the audition is fair and based on what’s happened in the actual audition.
We also make sure we have a balanced diversity of genders and ethnic background across our shows, which we manage by having multiple places we advertise casting, by advertising to other communities, and also by involving more than one person in the final decisions on casting.
If people want notes regards the audition they are welcome to request this afterwards, we can do this on email using notes made during auditions, but the notes we can give are limited in scope due to the number of people applying.
