clowning workshop
One-day clowning for improvisers workshop with Charlie Jackson!
This workshop brings the weird and wonderful world of clowning into improvised comedy. We take clowning and improv exercises that help us develop a more playful and responsive style to our performance. As well as exploring show formats that could be taken to the stage.
This workshop will help you:
- Bring more play, physicality and props into your improv
- Give the audience more of what they want by listening and responding to them more
- Be okay with breaking the rules in order to follow the fun
- Discover old and new improv show formats that benefit most from these techniques
We do this by looking at various concepts such as:
- Game
- The flop
- Fixed point
- Major / minor
- Audience sensitivity
- Breaking the rules

faqs
What previous experience do I need?
Suitable for intermediate to advanced improvisers or clowns. You do not need experience in both improv and clowning, but do need experience in at least one.
What should I wear?
This is more physical than our improv courses so we suggest loose comfortable clothing and soft soled shoes.
Can I do the course if I have a disability or use a wheelchair?
Yes. Although the course is more physical than improv we are always happy to work with people to find a solution they can play with for each exercise. We have had many wheelchair users on our other courses and have always been able to work out something with the teacher. So please contact us if you have any concerns or requirements.
What’s the class size?
Maximum of 16 people, average of 12-14 people.
